Time for a Change...a return to primal knowledge

The change is coming.

It is a time for deep change. We stand at the cliff's edge right now, our toes over the edge above the abyss. Behind us is a world of greed, of suffering, a world out of balance with the natural forces around us/ In front of us...well, that remains to be seen.

Right now a dark stormy fog lies before us. Occasionally the fog shifts and we get a glimpse of what lies beyond. Sometimes that future seems to be a good one, of balance and healing of the Earth, and other times it appears to be dark and forbidding.

There are two futures before us. Right now we still have a choice of which future we pull towards us, but the window for that choice is narrowing.

The Earth will survive, as she has for millennia. She has enormous capacity for healing herself. The real question is...will we? As a society, as a race, will we step forward into the future or step off into the abyss of destruction?

The answer to that question lies within us. As pagans, as witches, as people of the Earth, we have more power than most to to effect change. And yet, for the most part, we haven't. We have been content to live our lives like the rest of the herd, stepping forward only to circle on the holidays, practicing quietly in the safety of our apartments. We have taken the watered-down witchcraft they offered us, tried the badly-rhymed spells and incomprehensible rituals, and then wondered if we were doing it wrong when we didn't feel anything. When it didn't work. And maybe then you felt, somehow, a need for more, a way to go deeper.

It's time for a change.

It's time to find a way to go deeper. It's time to shake off our complacency and find time to play, to heal, to fight, to howl at the moon. It's time to break the chains and connect with the deep primal forces within ourselves and within the Earth.

You don't have to wait until you join a coven or find a teacher or find other people like yourself. You don't need to attend a weekend workshop that costs more than your rent or mortgage payment. All you need is yourself and the world around you. The First Knowledge, the knowledge of your primal self and the deep pagan ways of our ancestors is available to anyone who seeks them. You just need to learn to listen...and be willing to unlearn the lies that society has taught us.

          not serving so many others you have lost yourself

Strong

          not beaten down by life

Aware

          not mind-dulled by a constant stream of useless information

Primal

          in touch with the world around you

Tribal

          not living alone

          not feeling alone

          not fighting the world alone

Listen

          as the wind whispers in your ear

Hear

          the voices of your ancestors singing in your blood

Fight

          against those who will enslave you

Resist

          those who try to divide isolate you

Know

          that there is more to life than this

Find

          the ones who will stand at your back

Seek

          the primal knowledge that was once known by all

Answer

          the call of the Thornwood.

Reclaim Your Power – By finding, recognizing, and reclaiming the personal power that is your birthright from the Elder Kin, you become strong enough to become a weapon, a tool for the Re-Awakening and the Balance.

Befriend the Wights – By making yourself known to the local land spirits you confirm your intention to learn and work with the powers of the Earth.

Become a Warder of the Land – By warding and protecting the land, we create larger and larger oases of reawakened power. We begin with the wild lands near us, whether public or private. We realize that land is never owned by an individual for it has its own spirit. It should be the goal of all to eventually hold claim to a portion of land where you can work your deep magic and honor the Elder Kin.

Weave the Silver Strands – By creating oases of reawakened and power-full land we create links in the chain of Earth power…eventually reconnecting them at the power points.

Connect with the Elder Kin – By connecting with the Elder Kin we learn what they have to teach us and honor our ancestors as well as furthering the Re-Awakening.

Explore the Otherworlds – With the help of the Elder Kin and our personal

Vörd we learn to see and interact with the worlds beyond ours and their inhabitants.

Awaken the Earth – The industrial and agricultural revolutions have done their best to destroy the deep power latent within the Earth and its inhabitants. By working in conjunction with the land spirits and our animal brothers, we can reawaken the powers of the Earth and help the Earth to heal herself…and open the gates to the Elder Kin.

Build the Fires – By connecting with the Black Root and re-discovering the ancient knowledge and the deep magic we empower ourselves to empower the Earth.

Forge Tribal Bonds – By forging bonds with like-minded people we spread our influence and create more power to reawaken the Earth.
